Trailhead: Haley Farm Trailhead, Hopper Road, Williamstown, Massachusetts Ascent route: Hopper Trail to Overlook Trail to Appalachian Trail Descent route: Appalachian Trail to Overlook Trail to Hopper Trail to Money Brook Trail to Hopper Trail Type: Out-and-Back/Lollipop Distance: 9.7 miles Elevation gain: ~2,489 feet Topo and I ventured to Massachusetts to climb the state’s tallest mountain (3,489 feet). The Hopper Trail was beautiful as it followed a brook and meandered through a variety of flora. The peak of Greylock was mildly busy and quite developed as summits go. Trailhead: Route 94, Vernon Township, New Jersey Route: Stairway to Heaven trail Type: Out-and-Back Distance: 3.1 miles Elevation gain: ~850 feet This trail is dubbed the “Stairway to Heaven” for a steep series of rock steps switchbacking up Wawayanda Mountain.
